Erwin Schaefer Obituary
Middle Village, Queens - Erwin H. Schaefer, a resident of Middle Village, Queens, entered into eternity on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at his home. He was 77.
Son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Grasser Schaefer, he was born April 27, 1940 in Brooklyn. He was a graduate of Cooper Union with a bachelor's degree in engineering. He went on to work for the MTA as an Engineering Manager until his retirement. In addition to being a Professional Engineer, he enjoyed playing golf and was an avid reader.
Survivors include his brother, Otto Schaefer and his wife, Carol of Wappingers Falls; his nieces and nephews, John Schaefer, Michael Schaefer and his wife, Drita, Laurie Kowalski and her husband, Ed, and Lisa Gilmore and her husband, John; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Emily, Abigail, Sabrina, Marie, Andrew, Genevieve, Tyler, Karleigh, Kourtney, Isabella and Sophia, as well as good friends, Joan and Susan Carlson.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls.
Memorial donations in Erwin's name may be made to Mount Alvernia Retreat Center, PO Box 858, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
