Harriet Fernandez Obituary

Harriet Fernandez

Poughkeepsie - On Sunday, June 23rd, Harriet entered peacefully into eternal rest after a long illness. Born and raised in Yonkers, NY, to the late Harry Patrick Smith, Sr., and Amelia Smith, on August 29, 1939, Harriet was the second child of four, she was 73. Harriet was a very talented professional hairstylist for many years as co-owner of the Gran Way Beauty Salon on Main Street, Poughkeepsie. Widowed at an early age, Harriet was the loving mother of her only child, Susan (Fernandez) Blom, who she is survived by, along with three beautiful granddaughters, JoAnna Reedman, April Catalano, and Christina Catalano. She was pre-deceased by her loving and devoted partner of 25 years, Frederick Branson, of Fishkill, NY, her soulmate who she is now reunited with. Harriet is survived by her siblings, Virginia (Smith) Richardson of Arizona, Harry Smith Junior, of Yonkers, and predeceased by her sister, Lynda (Smith) Ciufetelli of Yonkers. Harriet spent her days spoiling and caring for her beloved dog, Madison, whom Harriet cherished until the end of her life. Calling hours will be Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Timothy Doyle Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service taking place at a later date to be announced by the family.

11 years and it still seems like yesterday, Mom. Still I think of you every day, things we did, things we said.
May our sweet little Maddie be in your arms right now. Love Sue
