HIGHLAND - Henry Edward Wallace Sr., 76, of Highland, New York, loving father and grandfather died died Sunday March 17, 2013 at home with his beloved family at his side. Mr. Wallace was born in Monticello, the son of Henry and Margaret Wallace. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 47 years, Claudia (Speckhardt) Wallace of South Fallsburg, NY. She predeceased him, December 2008.

Mr. Wallace served in the Army in both Colorado and Germany. He worked 28 years at HO Penn as a shop foreman and also ran his own excavating business for 37 years. Mr. Wallace worked with the Boy Scouts of America. He was inducted into the Order of the Arrow in 1979 and later received the Brotherhood and Vigil Honor for distinguished contributions to the lodge. He served a long time as an Order of the Arrow Advisor to Rip Van Winkle Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid outdoorsman and remained active throughout his entire life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Town of Lloyd Rod and Gun Club for over 40 years where he held the position of Vice President for several terms and was also a Life Member. He also belonged to the Buckaroo Lodge in Claryville, NY, for many years.

Henry was happiest when spending time with his grandchildren. His family will miss his loyalty, witty humor, bright smile and laughter. He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Lauralee and David Mele of Newtown CT, a son and his fiancé, Henry Wallace Jr and Dorothy Mayone of High Falls, NY; three grandchildren, Ashley Mele, Henry Wallace III and Amanda Mele; a sister and her husband Eileen and James Minarsky of Grahamsville, NY. A gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday March 21st from 10am to 11am at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 38 Main St. Highland, NY 12528. Funeral Service will follow visitation at 11am with Reverend Jennifer Barrows officiating.

Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Lloyd in Highland.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the: Ascension Holy Trinity Episcopal Church 12 Grand St Highland, NY 12528.
