James Dwy Obituary

James A. Dwy

WINGDALE, NY - James (Jimmy) A. Dwy, 80, a lifelong resident of Wingdale, passed away on December 26, 2014 at Putnam Hospital in Carmel, NY. Born on April 10, 1934 in New Milford, CT, he was the son of the late Clifford and Blanche (Duncan) Dwy. His mother, Blanche, was his idol. Mr. Dwy was a contractor and carpenter who owned Dwy Construction and enjoyed doing a lot for the Town of Dover. He was a very hardworking man. He is survived by his wife, Caroline Dwy, who will sadly miss him.

An avid golfer, he flew his own plane and enjoyed traveling all over the world. He lived a very adventurous life, too numerous to list. He lived life with a smile and love in his heart. His greatest joy was being called, "Grandpa Jim." He loved his wife and let her know every day. He took great pride in everything he did.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Ron Dwy and his wife, Josie, of Poughkeepsie, NY and Alec Dwy of Poughkeepsie, NY; his four stepchildren who loved him like their father, Steven Buturla and his wife, Melissa, of New Milford, CT, Priscilla Cabrera and her husband, Noel, of New Milford, CT, Randy Buturla of Gaylordsville, CT and Gregory Buturla of New Milford, CT.

He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Calabro, with whom he was close as well as her husband, George, of Wingdale; his brother, Richard Dwy and his wife, Rossie of North Carolina; his brother-in-law, Dale Johnson, who was there in his time of need and was his best buddy and his wife, Tina. He will be sorely missed by his mother-in-law, Pryde Johnson with whom he had a great relationship and sister-in-law, Christine Foshay, of Florida and Brenda Masterson, who he adored of Wingdale, and his many grandchildren who will miss their Grandpa Jim.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia Dwy, his late wife, Barbara Dwy, a brother, Clifford, and two sisters, Blanche and Claira.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains. Funeral services will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. I was very privileged to have had you in my life. you raised me as if i was your own son, i learned so much from you, and we have been through so much together. i very deeply regret some of the reckless and arrogant , self destructive behavior that i became defined by after the death of Mom (Cindy) your daughter, and up until the passing of Gam (Barbara) your wife when we became estranged. However i am extremely consoled at the fact that you found happiness and contentment afterwards with Caroline. I am also so very grateful to have been able to visit from Texas twice to see you and been able to reconcile and even begin a new relationship. i left New York relieved that not only were we able to have a new heart felt connection and a new relationship, but that you also had people around you that took care of you and brought you happiness, because you deserved it. you have had a great positive influence on my life and i am so fortunate for all the teachings, life lessons, protection, providing for me well beyond my basic needs, and many of the wise words of wisdom, such as "Don't piss up my back and tell me its raining" - Jim Dwy, My apologies, i am getting very emotional writing this and need a little comic relief. But in all seriousness, regardless of the things that have happen in the past, i have always loved you with all my heart, and will forever reflect on all my memories of you with nothing but gratitude, happiness, joy and unconditional love. i know that you have found peace, and are now reunited with my mother, and my grandmother, you daughter and wife, along with many others. i look forward with hope, and pray that one day i too get the privilege to be able to join you all in eternal light and love, but until then you will be greatly missed, and you memory kept alive in my heart, i love you so very much Pop, your grandson Nathen.
