Janusz Zadlo Obituary

Janusz M. 'John' Zadlo

Hyde Park - Janusz M. 'John' Zadlo, 66, a Hyde Park resident for almost 30 years, died on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at home with his wife by his side.

Born May 9, 1954 in Rzeszow, Poland, he was the son of Apoloniusz and Danuta Wilk Mazurkiewicz. His stepfather predeceased him, and his mother survives in Poland.

He emigrated to the United States from Poland in 1987, and proudly became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2013.

Janusz worked for thirteen years for the former Lomasney Combustion before becoming a bridge climber for the New York State Bridge Authority. He worked for the Bridge Authority for fourteen years before retiring.

He was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park, a member of the Hyde Park Knights of Columbus Council #6111, and the National Rifle Association.

Janusz was an avid gardener and gifted cook, and he enjoyed playing chess, tennis, and soccer. His family was his ultimate passion and his talent for being a stellar "dad-joke" teller was second to none.

In Poland, he married the love of his life, the former Beata Dziemiela. His wife of thirty-seven years survives at home.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his two sons, Jakub Zadlo and wife, Melissa, of Yonkers, and Dominik Zadlo and significant other, Amy Majkrzak, of Long Island; daughter, Magdalena Zadlo, of Poland; brother, Ryszard Mazurkiewicz, and wife, Zofia, of Hyde Park; two nephews, Piotr and Marcin Mazurkiewicz, both of Hyde Park; and mother-in-law, Maria Dziemiela, of Hyde Park.

In addition to his stepfather, he was predeceased by his son, Krzysztof Zadlo, in 1994.

Funeral services will be private.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, John's family respectfully requests memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 (www.diabetes.org), or, the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241 (www.heart.org).
