Johanna Cole Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Johanna P. Cole, 83, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on November 16, 2019 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center. She was born in Poughkeepsie on June 18, 1936 the daughter of William & Mary Simpson Lund. Johanna married John F. Cole on May 6, 1956 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. He predeceased her on March 21, 2009.
Johanna was employed by the city of Poughkeepsie School District as a Baker in Poughkeepsie Middle School. If you worked or attended the school in the 70's she was famous for her Peanut Butter Cookies. She was a past member of the Women's Auxiliary of the B.P.O.E. #275 in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Johanna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a "giver', always helping others. The family wishes to thank the Respiratory Unit at Vassar Bros. Medical Center and The Poughkeepsie Fire Dept. for their assistance during this difficult time.
Survivors include her son: John Cole of Conway, SC and daughter: Sharon E. Schettino of Poughkeepsie, NY. Grandchildren include: Anthony (Andres), Jeremy, Devyn (Joe) and Taylor (Jon). There are several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers: Ray & Kenny Lund and a sister: Pauline "Polly" Stickle.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 20, 2010, 4-8 PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Services will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 10AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Union Cemetery, Hyde Park, NY. Memorial Donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105. My brother-in-law has brought the news of Dear Aunt Jo passing. She was my Dads sister and a big part of Our Lives. I Always Loved Her Smile. As a former PMS teacher, I worked with Johanna every day. I always enjoyed talking and laughing with her. She was a gem and one in a million! I am so sorry for your loss; you must have many wonderful memories.
