Joseph Cruz Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Joseph M. " Joey" Cruz, age 29, of Poughkeepsie, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at his home in Poughkeepsie. Joey was born April 28, 1985 in Port Chester, NY. He is the son of Adrian and Kathleen (Bogan) Cruz. He married Tara Simpson on October 4, 2014 at Diamond Mills Saugerties, NY.
He was employed by Arlington Fire District as a Fire Fighter and previously worked at Castle Point VA Health Care as a Fire Fighter.
Joey was a member of Arlington Professional Fire Fighters Local 2393, SW Johnson Fire Department in Wappingers Falls, NY. He was a local resident all his life. Joey was a graduate of Roy C. Ketcham High School, he attended Buffalo University and Dutchess Community College.
Joey was a big Buffalo Bills and Islanders Fan. He enjoyed smoking cigars and listening to all different music. Joey loved bonfires,barbequing and being around family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Tara Cruz of Poughkeepsie, NY., loving daughter Emma Isobel Cruz of Poughkeepsie, NY; proud parents Adrian and Kathleen (Bogan) Cruz of Poughkeepsie, NY., big brother Adrian Cruz III of Tampa, FL; little sister Lisa Champion and her husband Patrick Champion of Poughkeepsie, NY; Grandmother's, Irene B. Cruz of Puerto Rico; Isobel Bogan of Wappingers, NY. and his beloved adopted dog Harley. Joey is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Calling hours will be Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A service will take place at 8:30pm following the visitation. Burial will be Private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joey's name to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention www.afsp.org, Arlington Volunteer Benevolent Assoc P.O. Box 2661 Poughkeepsie, New York 12603 or the Wounded Warriors Room 320, 370 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10001.

Joe you will be missed. I still can't believe you are gone.
You always made people laugh. You always had a tremendous sense of humor. I'll never forget you taking me to my senior prom and all the wonderful memories. The world has lost a beautiful soul. My deepest condolences to all of Joe's friends and family members. Rest in peace my friend.

Joey was the 1st friend I made at Sheafe Road.I will never forget playing football at recess and him being the Bills and me being the Jets. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to help others. One of the most genuine guys I knew. Even though we didnt see as much of each other after high school, when we did, it was like we didnt miss a beat. Thoughts and prayers to all his family and friends.

Joe-
I remember when I first met you in fire science class at dcc, I knew from that day that being a firefighter was the career you were destined to have. Well not only did that turn out to be true but you were one of the best there is! You were great at everything you did, you would light up the room the second you walked in. You just had this charisma about you that was impossible to ignore! I'm a better person for having known you and you will never be forgotten by me or anybody that ever was privileged enough to know you! RIP brother we will take it from here!
