Carrington Sr.
Beacon - Julius (Johnny) J. Carrington, Sr., father of 4 passed away Monday, September 19, 2016. Johnny was born on December 15, 1937 in Nelson, VA to the late James H. Carrington, Sr. and Lula Williamson Carrington. He came to Beacon as a child where he resided until his passing.
He was educated in the Beacon City School System and retired from Beacon City School District. His greatest enjoyment was motor cycles, church music, and a BIG Mets fan. Johnny loved potato chips, ice cream and iced water.
On March 26, 1955 he married Rosa Lee Jackson of Beacon who predeceased him in 1990.
Johnny is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Carrington Brown and Sandra Carrington Robertson (Vaughn) and sons, Julius Jr. (April) and John I. (Beverly); 7 grandchildren, Danielle, Julius III, John Jr., Consuela, Rodney, Phylicia, and Roland; and 11 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Pete) (Minnie); sisters, Dorothy Jean Paulin and Martha Walker (Frank); brother-in-law, James Smith; aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Johnny was predeceased by his brother, Charles and sister, Henrietta Smith.
Mr. Carrington will repose 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Springfield Baptist Church, 8 Mattie Cooper Square, Beacon, NY. Service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Ronald O. Perry Sr. will officiate. Interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill, NY. Professional service entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home, 43 Fairview Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Dam Man !!!! I Can't Believe Johnny Is Gone . He Was Such A Great Guy . I Remember When I Was A Young Man, Johnny Would Let Me Ride With Him In His Old Yellow Pickup Truck . Every Time I Was With Him Or Around Him, He Always Made Me Laugh . I'm Really Going To Miss Him Very Much . May God Forever Keep Him In His Heavenly Kingdom . To the entire family and loved ones of Johnny:
Johnny made motorcycle riding fashionable in Beacon. It was difficult to distinguish where his body ended and his bike began! They were seemingly inseparable. He was a natural mentor and remember him teaching me the ropes at Beacon Looms in the 1980s. May he rest in peace.
