- - Mr. Leslie Goffigon Jr, 95 passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at his residence. He was born April 4, 1923 in Capeville, Virginia, a small town in Northampton County, to Leslie Goffigon, Sr and Lula Peoples.
Leslie was inducted into the United States Army on March 23, 1943 at the age of 20. He was assigned to the 239 Port Company 393 Port Battalion, during WWII. He participated in the Normandy and Northern France Campaign. He was one of the thousands of soldiers who landed at Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944 (D-Day). Upon being honorably discharged from the US Army he traveled to New York, where he found employment with the US Postal Service for 38 years.
He leaves to cherish his legacy, his daughter Saundra Goffigon-Rudolph; son -in -law, Phillip Rudolph III; grandson, W. Aaron Steele; sister, Helen M. Goffigon; nephew, Syeed A. Goffigon; great nieces and nephews; step grand-children, step - great grandchildren and a host of cousins, and friends.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Locust Grove Estates (Greystone House), 2683 South Road, Poughkeepsie, NY.
