Lloyd Wiener Obituary

Lloyd David Wiener

- - Lloyd David Wiener, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many in New York, Florida and Nevada, died Oct. 30 - one day after his 76th birthday - at Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas. Lloyd had been bravely battling Multiple Myeloma.

Lloyd was married to Judith Nolan Wiener on June 1, 1968,at St. Denis Church, Beekman NY and they celebrated 50 years together five months before his death.

Lloyd was born Oct. 29, 1942 in Rockville Center, NY to David and Ruth Wiener and grew up in Elmont NY. After graduating from Valley Stream North high school, Lloyd joined the U.S. Air Force and served from 1960 to 1964. He was proud of the service he gave to his country.

After he was discharged, he was hired as a programmer by IBM in Dutchess County, where he moved and met Judy. He retired from IBM after 30 years.

Lloyd and Judy had two children, Kristin Eichhorn, of Las Vegas; and Gregg Winter of Arlington, WA. He is survived by his three grandsons - whom he adored and pampered - Nicholas Coryell, of Bloomington, MN; Edmund Eichhorn, of Las Vegas, and Jayce Winter of Arlington, WA, and a brother, Bruce Wiener, of Baldwin, NY. He was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Wiener, and a nephew, HM2 Jeffrey L. Wiener who was killed in action in Iraq while serving in the U.S. Navy on May 7, 2005. He is also survived by his two best friends, Robert Young Jr., of Las Vegas, and Chad Kendall, of Ocean Ridge, FL.

Lloyd endeared himself to everyone he met with his wry wit and genuine compassion for others, including turtles. When he and Judy retired to Florida in 1994, Judy told him he had to find something to do so he wouldn't be sitting around the house all day. (All of us who know Judy can picture her saying this.) Lloyd became a volunteer at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton, where he spent most of his time with the sea turtles, becoming an expert in their care.

A private funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at 9:30 at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton NY..

A Celebration of his life will be held Dec. 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hillside Lake Fire House Station 3 at 207 Hillside Lake Road, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

Donation's in Lloyd's name may be made to the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, 1801 North Ocean Boulevard, Boca Raton, FL 33432.

Dear Judy, Kristin ans Gregg,

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories of my pal "Floyd". I remember how hard Lloyd would laugh when I called him the man of many teeth. I was a kid but I had alot of fun with my folks and your family. I hope that you can find comfort in knowing that so many people are thinking of you all and wishing you peace.

Love always,
Diane

I feel blessed to have known Lloyd through our mutual friends, the Myers of Boca Raton. We had many wonderful walks on Deerfield Beach, FL with Jeanette and Jerry, Ted and me, and, of course, Lloyd and Judy. Cruises too! Lots of wonderful memories. Now all the men are gone .. Jerry, Ted and now Lloyd. RIP Lloyd and hugs to Judy.
