Madeline Gilroy Obituary
POUGHKEEPSIE - Madeline T. Gilroy, 87, of Poughkeepsie, NY died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, NY. Born in Poughkeepsie on August 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mildred Simon Mokarzel. Madeline was a graduate of St. Mary's and Poughkeepsie High School. On August 10, 1947 she married Robert D. Gilroy at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie, NY, and he predeceased her on November 3, 1989. Madeline had worked as a patient care technician for St. Francis Hospital for 23 years, retiring in 1989. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she enjoyed traveling, crafts and crocheting. Madeline is survived by her children and their spouses; Edward Gilroy of FL, Michael Gilroy of TX, Robert and Carole Gilroy of W. Columbia, SC, Richard and Melissa Gilroy of Pleasant Valley, NY, Joseph and Sherri Gilroy of Hyde Park, NY, James Gilroy of Middletown, NY, Paul and Cecilia Gilroy of Poughkeepsie, Janet and Bill Metzger of Warrenton, VA, Madelyn and Clark Smith of Pleasant Valley, NY; Joanne and David Mannino of Poughkeepsie & son-in-law:Michael Daniels of Middletown, R.I.. Madeline is also survived by her 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Madeline was predeceased by her daughter Mary Daniels in 2008, 2 brothers & 3 sisters Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 4:00-8:00pm at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A service will be held at 7:00pm during visitation. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. So sorry for your loss, I enjoyed working with your Mom for many Years at SFH...she was so inspiring with having so many children and energy, smile, sense of Humor and her compassion to all the patients, she was a breathe of fresh air in times where you didn't see such true compassion in ones work. Knowing her daughters and working with them at SFH as well, I knew where the got their ethics and morals from...she will be truly missed! God bless!

To the Gilroy Family,Im so sorry to hear of your Moms passing. It was such a pleasure to work at St. Francis with both your Mom and Dad. Sometimes it was a laugh a minute.I miss the family atmosphere and comradery that was there at the hospital. God bless you all and may she rest in peace.

My heart felt condolences to the entire Gilroy family on the passing of Mrs. Gilroy. I knew her most of my life and she was always nice had a great sense of humor. So sorry to hear about her passing.

I was in school with Mary Sue, and my mother taught some the Gilroy children in her third grade class at Violet Avenue School. I remember Mrs. Gilroy as a happy, energetic, and very caring mom. God give you His peace in this time of grief.
