Michael Guinan Obituary

Michael P. Guinan

Poughkeepsie - Michael P. Guinan, born on March 10, 1944, lost his courageous battle with cancer on April 26, 2014 at the age of 70. During his hard-fought battle, Mike never let the pain and suffering take away his lively nature; his last few days were spent joking and laughing with family and friends surrounding him. He left this world peacefully with wife Antoinette lovingly by his side, as she always was. Mike was very thankful for the outpouring of support shown during this trying time; it only demonstrated the amount of lives Mike touched.

Mike was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn to Irish immigrants Michael and Mary Guinan, who predeceased him. Mike fondly reminisced growing up in Brooklyn and constantly met and bonded with people around the world who grew up in his same neighborhood. Mike received his undergraduate from Montclair State University in 1980 and his MBA in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1984. He moved to Poughkeepsie, NY after accepting a job at ENAP, Inc. in New Windsor, NY, where he later became Chief Financial Officer and retired after over 20 years at the company in 2008.

He was an active golfer, skier, world traveler, and faithful Jets fan. His many adventures became treasured memories that were at the heart of most of his stories he loved to retell to family and friends. Mike, along with his wife Antoinette Gasparro Guinan, was an active member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church regularly volunteering his time for the betterment of the church and local community.

Mike and Antoinette's union brought together two wonderful families. His happiest moments were when the whole family was together, laughing and creating new memories. "Party time; get it on" was a common phrase used by Mike to create positive energy when opening his house to entertain family and friends.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Antoinette and his son, Michael Dylan with his wife, Kristin and their daughter, Nola; his son, Sean and his significant other, Linnea LaRocco; his daughter, Kate; his daughter, Tara and her significant other, Steven Fellmeth; and his step-daughter, Kimberly Proal. He is also survived by his sister, Joan with husband, Bob Lunney; his sister, Dr. Mary Guinan; his brother, Peter Guinan with wife, Phyllis; and several nephews.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who cared for him during his time at St. Francis Hospital, Hudson Valley Hospice and the wonderful support he received through the community at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
