Michael Jordan Obituary
Wingdale, NY - Michael James Jordan, 66, a 32- year resident of Wingdale, NY, formerly of Bay Shore, NY, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at New Milford Hospital in New Milford, CT. Mr. Jordan was an administrator for The Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities at the Westchester Developmental Center, Harlem Valley Campus, in Wingdale, NY, and later worked in their Manhattan office retiring in 1999.
Born January 8, 1946 in Bay Shore, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Brigid Finn Jordan, who both emigrated from County Mayo, Ireland. On March 18, 1967 in New York City he married April Hedley, who survives at home.
Michael received a Bachelor's degree from Manhattan College in 1967 and a Master's degree in Social Work from Hunter College in NYC, in 1970. He was the secretary and past president of the Dover Lions Club, he served on the Town of Dover Recreation Committee, and was a former member of the Town of Dover Little League advisory board. He also served on the Town of Dover Board of Elections, and was a member of the Harlem Valley Golf Club in Wingdale, NY.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Catherine Jordan, and her husband Steven Attanasio, of Clifton Park, NY, and Jennifer Wood, and her husband Leland, of Dover Plains, NY; his son, Sean Jordan, and his wife Christa, of East Longmeadows, MA; two sisters, Maureen Lindie, of Brooklyn, NY, and Eileen Thompson, of Blackstone, MA, and nine grandchildren: Erin, Megan, and Abbey Wood, Jennifer and Elizabeth Attanasio, Maeve, Brigid, Adelaide, and Finn Jordan. "Poppy" loved his children and grandchildren and treasured the times spent with family.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Thomas Jordan and a sister Catherine Weikman.
Calling hours will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Hufcut Funeral Home; 3159 Route 22 Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday, May 28, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Mill St. Dover Plains, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

I will miss the road trips to The Bronx, yet in you we all learned that the legacy we leave is not measured in years, but the hearts we touch and those of whom we made live a bit happier. Thank you for the happiness.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
