Paula Lauer Fury

In Loving Memory April 29, 1924-March 24, 2016. Paula Lauer Fury passed away peacefully on March 24, 2016. She will be interred at Wiltwyck Mausoleum in Kingston, NY, near her late husband Arthur McKinley Fury, Jr. Paula was born on April 29, 1924 in St. Johnsville, NY. She had one older brother, Arthur Lauer, Jr. Paula graduated from llion High School in llion, NY. She met her husband Arthur McKinley Fury Jr. who graduated from Herkimer High School in Herkimer, NY. They were married in May, 1943, in Kentucky while Arthur was in the Military. Arthur was in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Texas and Kentucky. Paula was a dedicated wife and mother of six sons. Paula and Art had a long and loving life together. Many of those years were spent in upstate New York. Paula and Art lived in Herkimer County, NY, Ulster County, NY and Yokohama, Japan. Their residence in the far east allowed Paula and Arthur to travel to a number of other countries and they visited Hong Kong and Thailand. After leaving Japan, they moved back to New York state and lived in Woodstock, NY and La Grange, NY. In 1978 they moved to Tucson, AZ to spend their retirement years. Paula was very fond of singing and music and enjoyed church choirs and listening to Mariachi bands. Her favorite singers were Jerry Vale and Anne Murray. She also was a member of the Sweet Adeline's singing group. Many times she could be heard singing or humming a tune with a beautiful voice around the house as she performed various domestic chores.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fanny Weaver and Arthur Lauer Sr., her older brother Arthur Lauer Jr. and her husband Arthur McKinley Fury, Jr. She is survived by her six sons Michael Fury (Joan) of Raleigh, NC, Dane Fury (Jo-Ann) of Hopewell Jct., NY, Randal Fury (Faith) of Saugerties, NY, Guy Fury (Margaret) of Tucson, AZ, Craig Fury (Deborah) of Saugerties, NY and Kurt Fury (Phyllis) of Westminster, CA; by her 14 grandchildren (Torin, Matt, Lesli, Stacy, Ryan, Erin, Lauren, Daryl, Chris, Nikki, Summer, Shelly, Steve, Shaun). and many great-grandchildren.She was loved by her large family and friends and will be remembered fondly and missed dearly.

A memorial service at St. James Church in Kingston is being planned for a later date.
