Paulette Thomas Obituary
Paulette Woodside Thomas entered into eternal life on June 19, 2021.
She was born on January 8, 1961 and was raised in New York City where she received her education at Proctors Academy.
Paulette worked as a correction officer at Downstate from which she retired from and she had many friends and devoted co-workers. Paulette was a compulsive shopper her favorite place was Goodwill. She enjoyed the hunt of taking something old and making it beautiful. On June 18, 2021 my sister Paulette gave me a birthday card which stated "Today is a celebration of the first time the beauty of your spirt blessed this Earth". No Paulette, it's your day. Paulette loved her family and friends every holiday, birthday or sick you were getting a card, and sometimes just because. Paulette touched many people with her kind heart and warm smile. She will be deeply missed and loved.
Paulette is survived by her husband, Ronald Thomas; the loves of her life her daughters, Laurell Jones and Sharonda Thomas; granddaughter, Hope Holguin; sisters, Michelle Gaddy and Jeanette Eley-Campbell; brothers, Gary Woodside Eley and Alphonso Eley. She also recently became acquainted with her siblings from the Woodside family, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Paulette is preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Eley, father Everett Woodside and her daughter, Shandel Jones.

Paulette and I made friends at the beginning of orientation at Proctor. We were both new students and New York City girls without a calling for the great outdoors. She was pretty, kind, smart, funny and a natural born athlete. But what stood out most and drew you to her was her warm personality and infectious smile. We eventually became roommates and had the time of our lives at school. She was a true and loyal friend whom I will always cherish and genuinely miss. My condolences to the Thomas, Woodside and Eley families. Paulette will always be remembered as a kind soul and never ever forgotten. She was one of the good ones and I was blessed for having known her. May His eternal peace and grace, alongside the wonderful memories you have of her, carry you through these difficult times ahead.

I remember Paulette when she arrived at Proctor Academy in 1977. She was petite, bright and had a wonderful smile. I considered her a friend.
