Raymond J. D'Aprile

Beacon - Raymond J. D'Aprile, a longtime local resident passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013 at his daughter and son-in-law's home in Pembroke Pines, Florida. He was 97.

The son of Cesidio and Mariannina DiCamillo D'Aprile, Ray was born in Beacon on May 27, 1916. Ray married the former Aurora E. DiFrancesco, the love of his life, who predeceased him in 1991. Ray was the owner and operator of Ray's Service Station on Main Street in Beacon from 1947 to 1982. Ray proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army as a member of the Military Police in the United States and in Europe. Ray was a member of the Beacon Lodge 1493 B.P.O. Elks and VFW Post 666 in Beacon. Ray was a life member of Trinity Council #445, Knights of Columbus and Mase Hook and Ladder Company.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Donna Jean Clerkin and her husband, Gene of Pembroke Pines, Florida; his grandson, Jason Clerkin of Orlando, Florida; his brother, Vincent D'Aprile of Kingston; his sisters, Mary D'Aprile and Gilda D'Aprile both of Beacon; numerous nieces and nephews and his special extended family.

In addition to his wife, Aurora and parents, Ray was predeceased by his brother, Cornelius D'Aprile and his sisters, Anna D'Aprile, Edith Olympia, Edna Crossetta and Lucia (Lucy) Pitts.

The family will receive their friends on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon. Members of the Trinity Council will hold services at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.

Entombment will follow at the Cedar Hill Mausoleum, 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh.
