Callaghan
Clifton Park - Robert W. Callaghan, 69, of Clifton Park, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Samaritan Hospital, in Troy with his loving family by his side. Born in Hackensack, NJ, on January 28, 1945, he was the son of the late Norman and Kathryn (Schwartz) Callaghan. Bob married Esther Belair on February 28, 1981 and the two shared blessed union of love and devotion for 33 years prior to his passing. Bob and Esther lived in Rhinebeck, NY until 2005 before relocating to Clifton Park. He was a Social Worker employed with New York State, retiring in 1999 after 22 years of dedicated service. Bob was an active member of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors since 1981. Known as "Papa" to his grandchildren, he was their number one fan for all their sporting events.
In addition to his beloved wife Esther, he is survived by his loving children; Daniel H. Callaghan of East Greenbush and Julie B. Callaghan Grace of Valatie as well as his 13 cherished grandchildren and his sister Jo Alison Reichelt of Rhinebeck, NY. He is predeceased by his Brother: Norman M. Callaghan.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday, October 14 from 4-7 p.m. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 10:00 am at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home in Latham with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will take place in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions can be made in Bob's name to the charity of one's choice. So sorry to read about Bob's passing. I have fond memories working with him at Wassaic way back when. It sounds like he relished his role as a grandpa and will be sorely missed.

Bob was one of the friendliest people I have ever met. He had a wealth of knowledge about clocks and watches and was a big help to me. He told me many stories of his experiences in buying watches. Bob had a wonderful collection of ephemera and was an expert on early watchmaker's tools. He came to all out meetings and always had a funny story to tell. I really miss him. Peter Elmendorf
