Robert Johnson Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Robert L. Johnson, 73, a longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away Sunday morning May 6, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
He was born December 5, 1938 in Enfield, NC to the late Morris and Sarah Johnson. He moved to Poughkeepsie, NY 53 years ago. Robert was a retired Environmental Service Technician from Vassar Brothers Medical Center.He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Leona.Johnson, of Poughkeepsie, NY; four sisters, Ethel May Harvey, of Poughkeepsie, NY,Jesse Tillery, Emma Brunetti and Eva Hall all of Baltimore, MD; one sister-in-law Dorothy Johnson of TX; three brothers, Lenwood Johnson and Sam Johnson Jr, both of Baltimore. MD and James Johnson of Poughkeepsie, NY. Predeceased by Joe Johnson and William Johnson; ten daughters, Jacqueline White (Paul), Felicia Grant (Reggie), Monique Johnson, Savonaree E. Johnson Clarke (Dwight), Janine Michelle Johnson, Erin Johnson, Robin Johnson, Christian Johnson all of Poughkeepsie, NY and Ethel Dickens of Albany, NY. Predeceased by Harriett Johnson. Six sons Robert H. Johnson (Estasha), Mark Johnson (Debra). Kevin Whitted (Shannon), and Javonte' Johnson all of Poughkeepsie, NY, Greg Johnson (Cassondra) of High Point, NC, Melvin Peterson (Sandra) of Richmond, VA. He has 54 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Josiah Johnson and Mickya Johnson-McCall.
Mr Johnson will lie in repose 10am-11am Friday May 11, 2012 at Beulah Baptist Church 92 Catharine Street, Poughkeepsie, NY, Services 11am at the church. Reverend Regina Stroman will officiate. Interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. Professional services entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Homes 43 Fairview Avenue Poughkeepsie, NY. "Committed To Being The Very Best".
