Robert Reifeiss Obituary
PLEASANT VALLEY - Robert F. Reifeiss, Sr., 79, an area resident since 1999 and formerly of Manlius, NY, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center with his wife and loving family by his side.
Born in Yonkers on November 24, 1934, he was the eldest son of the late Frank and Anna Bertha Reifeiss. He proudly served our country in the US Army and was a graduate of New York University. He had been employed as a Civil Engineer for the Syracuse City School District and Central Hudson in Poughkeepsie, NY. A dedicated "Do-It-Yourselfer", Bob enjoyed spending time surfcasting in Montauk, painting watercolors, playing chess, and was a World War II buff, and a Frank Sinatra aficionado. His life was filled with wonderful family.
Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Mary Martin. They were married on September 10, 1960 at St. John's Church in White Plains. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Robert and Wendy Reifeiss of Plymouth, MA, Maryann and Richard Schreck of Fairfield, CT, Elizabeth and Daniel Krason of Peterborough, NH, and Katrin and Thomas Helmick of Brooklyn, NY; his grandchildren, Hayley, Payton, Cate, Hannah, Kylie, Noah and Leah; his cousins Joan Martin and Fred Reifeiss; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Bruce Reifeiss.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday the 25th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Military Honors.
