Not sure what to say?

Just saw this obituary for Mr. Freeman. I would like to say how deeply indebted I am to him. I was discharged from the Marine Corps in 1968 and was directionless with little idea of what I could do. I randomly applied for a office boy job at Staunton and Freeman, 101 Park Avenue, NY. Ron interviewed me and offered the job. Over the next few years I was encouraged to pursue engineering. Ron and Lenny Jackson answered questions and pushed me to get more involved in ever increasing responsibilities. My love of civil engineering was born because of their remarkably kind attention to this lost soul. Eventually I became a noted engineer in the evolving field of sustainable land use projects. This would not have happened without Ron's faith in me and my subsequent success. God bless him.

Ron was the consummate professional when supporting my IBM projects. We also spent some time talking about trains and his model railroad which was impressive. We spoke last year and talked of having a burger together “post covid” so sad to see this news rest in peace Ron.

Ron will always be at the top of the list of people that I consider as both a friend and a mentor, that i am greatly thankful for having had the opportunity to know. I was introduced to Ron as the "engineer" our company was working for on the IBM Somers water supply in the early 1980's. However, almost immediately, Ron made me feel more like a RAFA team member and not just a subcontractor. From that point on Ron became one of my mentors and included me on numerous other water-supply projects over the years. Of course being part of the team meant having pie and tea with him and Ruth whenever I stopped by the office, which I tried to do whenever in the area. I must confess that I was one of the folks who fed Ron's potato chip addiction, with buckets of potato chips from a local New Hampshire chippery. We always looked forward to Ron and Ruth's train Christmas Cards which typically included a nicely written message for the holiday, but usually towards the end, referenced potato chips and pie. Ron will be sorely missed.

Working for Ron was a great priviledge. The list of "whys" is very very long. Ron and Ruth were great friends and mentors to many of us. We do miss them. Love to all!

Hi Diana and Brad and Michael and Cheryl,
I remember the annual Christmas parties at one of Ron’s favorite Chinese restaurants in Mt Kisco. (I think it no longer exists)
I remember Ron’s train set.
I remember Ron, as one of the nicest, kindest persons.
Whenever with friends, and somehow the subject of Sarka’s first job in the US comes up, she always brags about how her boss would daily, at 9am ask her how would she like her tea (milk? sugar?, not sure if she was offered a flavor). I believe it came with some pastry as well.
I remember when Sarka secretly installed a program on Ronald A. Freeman Associates brand new IBM computer (first computer), to Dewater the Hard Drive. When Ron turned on the computer one morning, a flashing message would appear, warning of WATER DETECTED IN YOUR HARDDRIVE !!!, DEWATER IMEDIATELY!! (there even was a picture of a faucet on the screen)
Besides drinking tea and Sarka playing practical jokes, they got a lot of great engineering done.
Well, even being an atheist, I am sure Ron and Ruth are back together.
Much Love to All and (Stay Safe as we say these days),
Tim

My sincere condolences to his family. I used to work at the dentist that he went to. He and his wife were just a beautiful couple. Cherish the memories. Know that he touched a lot of people with his kindness.
