Rose S. Budson
MICHIGAN- Rose S. Budson was born in Poland in 1907 to Zelda Cohn and Abraham Swatlo.
She came to the United States with her parents and sister Blanche in 1917, entering through Ellis Island.
Rose married Dr. Daniel Budson in 1927 in Detroit, MI.
Dr. Budson, a pediatrician, predeceased her in 1963.
Rose is survived by her daughter Susan Fink, husband Allen Poughkeepsie, NY; granddaughter Leslie Carroll and great granddaughter Emily, Poughkeepsie, NY; granddaughter Julie Rosenberg, husband Niels Burger, great grandchildren Eli and Clio, Arlington, MA; daughter Barbara Wojcik, West Bloomfield, MI, grandson Allen Pechenik, wife Deborah and great granddaughter Morganne, Northville, MI; granddaughter Nan Shnitzler and husband Burt, Bolton, MA; son Dr. Richard Budson and wife Susan Agger, Washington, DC, grandson Dr. Andrew Budson and wife Amy Null, great grandchildren Leah and Danny, Newton, MA; granddaughter Victoria Budson and husband Angus McQuilken and great grandchildren Abraham and Alexandra, Wellesley, MA.
In her early years she worked in her parents dry goods store and developed a love of business that she pursued for many years while living in Detroit.
After her husband's death, she retired to Florida where she remained for 30 years, spending her summers in Poughkeepsie and traveling.
While in Poughkeepsie, she attended Vassar Temple, was a member of the Jewish Community Center Friends and was a volunteer at the Vassar Brothers Hospital's Cupboard.
She and her husband were founding members of Temple Israel, West Bloomfield, MI. She was a member of Hadassah, B'nai Brith and Brandeis University Women's Committee and other philanthropic organizations.
She loved to listen to music, to read, play bridge and crochet. May she be remembered for living life fully and providing her family with a long legacy.
Funeral arrangements were made by Dorfman Chapel, Farmington Hills, MI. Burial will take place at Clover Hill Cemetery, Royal Oak, MI.
Shiva will be at the home of Barbara Wojcik and on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 7:00 at the home of Susan and Allen Fink, Poughkeepsie, NY.
