Shirley Tasker Obituary
PLEASANT VALLEY - Shirley Tasker, a resident of Pleasant Valley, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 after a brief illness.
Shirley was born in Dedham, Massachusetts, the daughter of Shirley and Hilda Richardson. She graduated from Dedham High School and married Gerald W. Tasker in Dedham, Massachusetts in 1954. They relocated to Long Island shortly thereafter where they raised their family. Shirley worked for many years at the Suffolk County Probation Dept. in Yaphank, New York where she enjoyed the many friends she made there. After their retirement, Gerald and Shirley moved to the Hudson Valley to be closer to family. She was predeceased by her loving husband in 2001 and her beloved grandson, Matthew in 2004.Shirley is survived by her sister, Marian Billingham of Walpole, Massachusetts, her son Steven Tasker and his wife Corinne, and daughter Suzanne Waters and her husband Richard. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Bryan, Caitlin, Olivia, Natalie, Eric and Andrew as well as one great-grandchild, Finnegan.
Shirley was a member of the Pleasant Valley Garden Club and volunteered as a gardener at the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park. She loved going on outdoor adventures with her family; years of camping in the mountains of New Hampshire, walking the trails and mansions in the beautiful Hudson Valley, exploring the parks and lakes in the Syracuse area and collecting shells on the beaches of Delaware. She cherished her family with all of her heart, demonstrating that love and devotion her whole life.
Her family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, New York, where she resided for the past several years and who cared for her during her final days.
The private burial will be at The Pleasant Valley Cemetery at a future date.

My sincere condolences go out to Shirley's family. I worked with Shirley for many years at the Probation department and can easily say that she was the best worker in her area of expertise, and a best friend to everyone. When there was a problem to be solved(usually at the last minute) Shirley was the go to person. She was a dear, sweet women, may she RIP!
