Susan NeJame Obituary
QUEENSBURY - Susan NeJame went to see our dear Lord on August 28, 2011 after succumbing to a long illness. Susan was born on December 16, 1933 in Amenia NY to Charles & Gladys Savoy of Conventry, New York who predeceased her. Susan had 3 siblings, Esther, John and Charles. Her first loving husband Clayton Hackenson predeceased Sue on June 21, 1977, on their 20th wedding anniversary. Her second sweet husband William NeJame of 8 years also predeceased Sue on March 10, 1986. Sue's family had moved to Waterbury CT, when she was a child and she returned to New York in 1960. Susan resided in Poughkeepsie for over 40 years, until she became ill four years ago and moved to the Glens Falls/Queensbury area with her stepdaughter Lisa NeJame and son-in-Law Donald Osborne, who took care of her. Also, her loving daughter Karen Rosenberg of Edmond, Oklahoma, and her granddaughter Markie, as well as several nieces and nephews survive Susan. Her stepdaughter Michelle Porteous of California also survives her.
Sue was a retiree from Shop Rite after working for them for over 28 years. Sue loved to travel, enjoyed knitting, as well as dabbling in various arts and crafts. Also, Sue had a delightful passion for collecting culinary gadgets and gizmos that included pop-culture cookbooks to many of the newest wave cooking utensils! She will affectionately be missed!
We would like to extend a very heart felt "Thank You" to the Betros, NeJame, Dow, Smith, Bagwell and Mead families for their love and emotional support!
Calling hours will be held 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday Sept 1, 2011 at the Wm. G. Miller & Son F.H., Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 11 AM at St. Mary's Church, 231 Church St., Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12601. Burial will follow in the family plot in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 301 Manchester Rd., Ste.105, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12603.
