Christiane Knorr Obituary
Christiane Hella Knorr, 83, of Iowa City, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at The Bird House, the Hospice Home of Johnson County.
A Memorial Service will be held at Old Brick in Iowa City on Saturday, September 23th, 2017 at 2 pm.
Christiane was born on January 11, 1934 in Berlin, Germany and was the daughter of George and Hella (Roeder) Bliersbach. She graduated in 1955 with a degree in Physical Therapy. Christiane was united in marriage to George Knorr on May 28, 1960 in Munich, Germany. In 1967 they immigrated as a young family to the United States and eventually settled in Iowa City, IA.
Christiane's artistic sensibilities came into fruition in the mid 1970's when she became a dedicated ceramicist. As a member of the IC art community she was instrumental in establishing the Iowa Artisan Gallery in 1980.
Christiane was a vibrant member in the community of Iowa City and touched many people's lives with her compassion and love. She will be dearly missed.
Christiane is survived by her husband, George; three sons, Stefan Knorr of Seattle, WA, Ulrich Knorr (Carol Aarts) of Salt Lake City, UT, and Christof Knorr (Sarah Bond) of Portland, OR; and five grandchildren, Oriah, Poppy, Ella, Josephine, and Beatrice.
Christiane was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bernd Knorr; and two siblings, Dieter Bliersbach and Antje Hahn.

Lieber Georg, über Umwege erfuhren wir von Christianes Tod, und sind mit Dir sehr traurig. Ich habe sie nur 1 mal getroffen (an Brigittes Beerdigung) und da habe ich sie gleich 'ins Herz geschlossen'. Wir versuchten mehrmals, Dich telefonisch zu erreichen - leider ohne Erfolg. Wohnst Du nicht mehr in Eurem Haus?
Wir waren leider auch nicht unter unserer Tel.Nr. zu erreichen, weil wir in unserem Ferienhaus in Portugal waren. Wir sind erst seit Anfang
November wieder in Cuxhaven (0049 4721 61228, E-mail: [email protected]). Ich wäre sehr froh, wenn ein Kontakt mit Dir irgendwie möglich wäre. Deine Kinder kenne ich ja leider gar nicht.
Und so hoffe ich, Du liest irgendwann diese Zeilen.
