Paul Rosazza Obituary

Paul Alan Rosazza of Glendale, CO died of a cerebral hemorrhage at Denver Health Medical Center on April 2, 2014. Paul was born 8/16/63 at Wyndham Memorial Hospital in Willimantic, CT. He was the son of Jan and Jack Rosazza. Paul moved with his family to Madison, WI and later Iowa City, IA. He attended Roosevelt School, Central Junior High and was a proud graduate of City High in 1981. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art at the University of Iowa, and found his life-long love of the Hawkeyes, whom he followed with great enthusiasm through this year's basketball season.
Paul spent 26 years as an artist in design departments of WTIC NBC News in W. Hartford, CT and for the past 12 years at CBS 4 in Denver. An avid and accomplished photographer and artist, Paul loved the mountains of CO, the Grand Tetons, and the greatest of creatures, especially whales, bears and wolves. His 40th birthday trip with Jack and Trudi was an unforgettable whale-watching cruise around the Baja Peninsula.
Paul cherished his families in CT, IA and CO. He and his Italian grandmother, Evelyn Sardi, shared a home in Torrington, CT where they enjoyed their mutual love of the NY Yankees, discussed their progressive views on the world, and enjoyed Evelyn's world-class cooking every day. Moving to Denver, Paul was adopted by the CO Rosazzas who showered him with affection and much care as he managed the progressive onset of medical issues due to diabetes. And, they good-heartedly tolerated and enjoyed Paul's obsession with the Hawkeyes turning nearly every conversation to his favorite Iowa teams. Paul cultivated lasting friendships throughout the US. His wit, great sense of humor, love of music, intelligence, awareness of world affairs and love of lively conversation are precious memories.
Paul's Mom, Jan preceded him in death. He is survived by his father Jack and Trudi Rosazza, brothers Mark (and Stephanie and Talia and Anthony), David (and Becky) all of Iowa City; aunts and uncles Joan Rosazza and family of Carlisle MA, the very Reverend Peter Rosazza of Bloomfield, CT, Mary Jo Rosazza of Colorado Springs, Dennis and Pam Sardi of Marlboro, CT, cousins Mike Rosazza, Annie Rosazza, Matt Rosazza, Chris Rosazza; and Kate Sardi Samson and Matt Sardi – and their families.
Paul's family expresses grateful thanks to Paul's CBS family in Denver who gave tremendous support after Paul became critically ill. And to the CO Rosazzas, the caring medical staff of Denver Health Medical Center – all of whom eased his difficult last days.
A memorial celebration for Paul is planned in Colorado on June 28, 2014.
