Randy McElvain Obituary

Randy L. McElvain, 58 of Iowa City died Sunday at his home following an extended illness.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, 2720 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City. Graveside Services of his cremated remains will be at 1:00 pm, Sunday June 7, 2009 at the Chariton cemetery, Chariton, Iowa. Randy Lynn McElvain was born January 24, 1951, in Chariton, Iowa the son of Donald and Kathryn (Stone) McElvain. Following graduation from Chariton High School in 1969 he attended the University of Iowa. He had a successful career with Hy Vee. He most recently worked as produce manager for the First Avenue HyVee in Iowa City. Everyone that knew Randy, knew his obsession with the Iowa Hawkeye's; he had to be one of the most loyal fans! He, also, was an avid golfer and loved to travel.
His family includes two brothers and their wives, Rodney and Linda McElvain of Coralville, Russell and Robin McElvain of Haltom City, TX, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
