Brent Eells Obituary

Brent Eells, 49, passed away on July 28, 2025, at his home in Rogers, Minnesota. He was diagnosed with Adult-Onset Type 1 Diabetes in 2003 but managed it quite well until 2020 when he went into a life-threatening diabetic coma that resulted in a brain injury. He worked hard to overcome these issues but ultimately lost his battle with diabetes.

Brent grew up in Prior Lake, Minnesota, and graduated from Prior Lake High School in 1994. He attended the University of Minnesota and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering as a Presidential Scholar in 1999. Brent was a student worker in his Aunt Marilyn's office at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health for 2 years while attending college. He completed an internship at Boston Scientific and spent most of his career there, serving as a Principal Engineer, Design Assurance Manager in New Product Development, and as Senior Design Quality Manager. He spent 5 years commuting monthly between the Boston Scientific plant in Maple Grove and their California plants. He worked at St. Jude Medical as a Senior Manager for Development Quality from 2015-2016. He took pride in his work and always enjoyed Boston Scientific and his co-workers and friends there so returned for his final 4 years of employment.

In his youth, Brent was active in Boy Scout Troop 339 of Prior Lake and was the Senior Patrol Leader for several years. He received the Eagle Scout award in 1994. When he was young, he took several trips with his Aunt Marilyn (including Florida, Tennessee, Tucson, Chicago, and Hawaii). He also traveled with his parents to various national parks. Brent visited his Uncle David's ranch in Montana for a few weeks each summer for many years. While there he learned to ride horseback, camp, fish, canoe, etc. He also took several camping trips to the Boundary Waters with friends as well as with his uncle. Brent was an avid reader (especially mystery books) and has an extensive library at his home, as well as a collection of various types of art.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Eells, and grandparents, Rose and Martin Eells and Mildred Anderson.

He is survived by his mother, Sue Ann from Shakopee; brother, Shawn (Janessa and their children, Anderson and Everett) from Minnetrista; aunt Marilyn Eells from Mendota Heights; and uncle David Anderson (Lisa, cousins Petyr, Teryn, Joshua, Gabriel, and Daniel), from Belt, Montana.

We would like to thank his caregivers, friends, and family for all their support and care during Brent's journey.

Visitation Friday, August 22, 2025, from 10-11 AM, followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, all at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, 3611 N. Berens Rd NW, Prior Lake, MN. Memorials can be directed in Brent's memory to the American Diabetes Association.
