William "Bill" Hackett, a 47 year resident of Ben Lomond, passed away at home on May 2, 2021. Bill was born on Sept. 6, 1939 in Ware, Massachusetts and raised in Athol, Massachusetts, along with his older sister, Clarissa Ann.

In 1965 he met the love of his life, Shirley "Jean" Hackett. They were married a few months later and enjoyed 48 years together. They lived in Saratoga, raising son, Kirt, and daughter, Kelley, until 1974, when they "headed for the hills," moving to Ben Lomond. Bill was a firefighter with the San Jose Fire Department, and was a volunteer with the Ben Lomond Fire Department, where he was known as "Wild Bill". He loved being a part of the BLFD family. After Bill retired, he and Jean started Hacketts Woodcarving and Baskets. Bill was a master wood carver and Jean became a master painter and basket weaver, painting Bill's carvings, as well as her own work. Bill and Jean also enjoyed working in their beautiful gardens at their Ben Lomond home.

Bill's recent years were centered on his grandchildren, Emily, Liam, and Skyla.
Bill is survived by son and daughter-in-law Kirt and Claire Hackett, grandchildren Emily and Liam Hackett of Ben Lomond; daughter Kelley Hackett and granddaughter Skyla Jean Hackett of Avery, CA; and sister Clarissa Ann ("Nan") of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley "Jean" Hackett in 2013, and parents, William Thomas Hackett and Clarissa Eleanor Hackett.

Bill's family is grateful to the San Lorenzo Valley community for their love and support since Bill's passing.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
