Apalachin: Ballis J. Nizamis, 80, of Apalachin, died peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital on Monday, March 5, 2012. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Persefoni (Persa) Nizamis. They were married on February 14, 1954. He is also survived by his two loving sons and daughter-in-law, John B. Nizamis, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Chris P. and Theresa Nizamis, Baldwinsville, NY; his pride and joy, his three grandchildren, John Ryan, Caili and Christian; two sisters, Rebecca Candido, New Haven, CT and Athena Matthews, Las Vegas, NV. Ballis was a retired IBM Corporation employee, retiring after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Vestal where he was a dedicated Sunday School teacher and was the church photographer. He prepared the church bulletin for 10 years, was a member of the Parish Council and worked on the church festival for 35 years. He was vice president of the Vestal Senior Citizens Club and was a veteran of the United States Navy Seabee's. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1 O'Hara Drive, Vestal. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main St., Endicott, Friday from 5-8 PM with a Trisagion (prayer) Service at 7:30 PM by Reverend Father Michael Bahlatzis.
