Rhoades, Charles "Chuck" Edward

Charles "Chuck" Edward Rhoades, 84 of Penn Yan, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and family on July 18, 2016. Charles was born April 4, 1932 in Elmira, NY to James Isaac Rhoades and Cecelia Francis Turner. He graduated from Cortland High School in 1951, received and Engineering degree from Union College in 1955 and followed with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. At Union College he met his Sigma Chi sweetheart. On August 20, 1955 he married Donna Marie Reed at St. Joseph's Church in Campbell, NY. Charles spent his professional career in the glass industry becoming an expert in the field. He began in Vineland, NJ at Owens Illinois. He joined Brockway Glass in 1957 and advanced through the years from plant foreman to area plants manager. He culminated his work career as the CEO/COO of Consumers Glass in Toronto, Canada. He was heavily involved in philanthropic work including the Salvation Army, UNICEF and the YMCA. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Donna Reed Rhoades; brother, James (Helen) Rhoades of The Villages, FL and sister, Patricia (Carl) Hall of Plant City, FL; son, Charles (Judy) Rhoades of Binghamton, NY; daughters, Donna Susan (Paul) Frazier of Thurston, NY and Ann Marie (Dr. Richard) Koslowski of Lebanon, PA; grandchildren, Kylie ( fiancé Brendan Harder)Rhoades, Christopher Rhoades, Melissa (Justin) Morgan, Jesse (Jaimie) Anderson, Trista (Brian) Hesch, Kayla (Jeremy) Rice, Zachary Koslowski, and Hallie Koslowski; great grandchildren Annaliese, Victoria, Liliah, Chace, and Benjamin Morgan, Logan and Izabella Anderson, Brienna Hesch and Zaiden and Austin Rice; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Cornelias) Reed, Gary Beattie; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (David) Austin, Rosalyn (Barry Flynn) Reed; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He is predeceased by his parents; sisters-in-law, Carol Beattie, Beverly Reed and Patricia Rhoades and great-grandson, Dylan Matthew Rice. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church Main Street in Campbell, NY. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Addison, NY. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to thank special friends the Ames family for their love and support.

Dear Aunt Donna and Family,

I am so saddened to hear about Uncle Chuck's passing, but do know that his spirit lives on and is watching over each and every one of you. The good memories will live on in your hearts and I pray for his soul and also for your families.
