David DeWayne Heckathorn
of VestalDavid DeWayne Heckathorn, 39, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2003, surrounded by his loving wife and children after a short stay at Ideal Senior Living Center, Endicott. He was predeceased by his father, Ferdinand Heckathorn; brothers, William and Michael Heckathorn; and his sister, Erin Heckathorn. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Avery Heckathorn; two daughters, Stephanie and Danielle Heckathorn; a son, Tony Heckathorn; his mother, Shirley Stamelos, Endicott; maternal grandmother, Sarah Fultz, Manassas, Va.; brother, Donald Heckathorn, Endicott; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Janice Avery Sr., Ithaca, N.Y.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl and Denise Jones Jr., Apalachin, Kenneth and Diedre Avery Jr., Merrimack, N.H.; nieces and nephews, Christopher and Amanda Heckathorn, Jonathan and Christine Jones, Christopher, Shannon and Noah Avery; and several cousins, aunts and uncles. Mr. Heckathorn was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Endicott, and was employed by IBM in both Glendale and Owego. He graduated from Owego Free Academy, received an Associate Degree in Science from Broome Community College, a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from SUNY Potsdam and a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Binghamton University. He also coached Vestal Youth Soccer for several years.
Funeral and interment services will be held on Monday, 1 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 17 Nanticoke Ave., Endicott. Rev. Kenneth E. Wood, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E.
