Dennis T. O'Dea
of Kirkwood
Dennis T. O'Dea, 84, of Kirkwood, died on Saturday, May 17, 2003. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ernest and James. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eleanor (Santalucia); son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Jane O'Dea, Kirkwood; four grandchildren, Katrina, Luke, Janine, Eamon; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Augustine O'Dea, Binghamton, Millie O'Dea, Johnson City, Patricia O'Dea, Binghamton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Joseph Murphy, Binghamton, Margretta and Robert Stackhouse, Endicott. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dennis retired from the US Air Force after 20 years and was discharged as a Chief Master Sergeant, serving in both the European and African theatres as an Aerial Engineer on B-17's. Dennis was a P.O.W. in Germany and then sent back for the entire Berlin Airlift. As a teenager, Dennis helped to build the shrine at St. Mary's Church and was also a member of Teamsters Local 693 for over 40 years.
A funeral service will be held from Savage Funeral Home, 338-344 Conklin Ave., Binghamton, NY 13903 on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. and at St. Mary's Church, Kirkwood, NY at 10 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Catucci officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira, NY with military honors. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2003. In lieu of flowers, please make expressions of sympathy in Denny's name to the St. Mary's Church Stained Glass Fund.
