Edna C. Pickens
of Oxford, N.Y.
Edna C. Pickens, 82, of Oxford, N.Y., and formerly of Morris, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, May 02, 2006, at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, N.Y. She was born in Oneonta, N.Y. on December 21, 1923, the daughter of George and Lois (Byrd) Carr. She married Sidney Pickens at the United Methodist Church in Morris on April 16, 1947. She was a loving wife and mother and had worked for the Morris School district and the Oxford Academy as a bus driver for many years. Edna and her husband, Sidney, had resided in Oxford since 1971. When they lived in Morris, she was an active member of the United Methodist Church and its women's group and choir. She was a charter member of the Morris Emergency Squad. While living in Oxford, she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oxford and served at one time as president of the women's group and sang in the choir. Edna is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Sidney Pickens, Oxford, N.Y.; a son, John Carr Pickens, Palm Coast, Fla.; two daughters, Suzanne Marie Bowen and husband, Jim, N.C., and Tamara Russell and husband, Tom, Norwich, N.Y. She is also survived by two brothers, David Carr and wife, Beatrice, Morris, N.Y., and Robert Edward Carr and wife, Anita, Ft. Lupton, Colo.
In keeping with Edna's wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be held. Cremation was made at Hillington Crematory and her cremains will be interred in Hillington Cemetery in Morris at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris, N.Y. Online condolences may be sent to www.johnstonfh.com
