Edward Baka
of Lanesboro, Pa.
Edward Baka, 74, of Lanesboro, Pa., passed away peacefully Friday, June 21, 2002 at the Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, N.Y. after an illness. He was predeceased by four brothers, Michael, George, Joseph and John Baka; two sisters, Mary Kulikowski and Susan Baka. He was born in Starrucca, Pa. the son of the late Andrew and Susan (Kostelnik) Baka. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marion E. (Bennett) Baka; two daughters and one son-in-law, Andrea and Robert Lea, Kirkwood, N.Y., Carol Baka, Lanesboro, Pa.; two loving grandchildren and their spouses, Michele and Richard Smith, Kirkwood, N.Y., Victor and Tracy Lea, Washington, N.J.; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Lea and Elizabeth Lea, Washington, N.J.; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the St. John's Byzantine Church of Forest City, Pa., American Legion Post #86 and Loyal Order of The Moose Lodge #794, both of Susquehanna. Edward worked for Sears and Roebuck in Johnson City for 29 years before his retirement. He enjoyed working on the family dairy farm in Starrucca, Pa. Edward will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 25 at 9 a.m. at the Hennessey's Funeral Home, 208 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna and 10 a.m. at the St. John's Byzantine Church in Forest City, Pa. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Msgr. John T. Sekellick. Burial will be held in St. John's Cemetery in Susquehanna. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
