Francis Zimmer Obituary
Maine: Francis (Pete) Zimmer, 72, of Maine, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8 2013. He was born July 21, 1940. Pete is predeceased by his wife, Millie Elaine Zimmer; daughter, Cindy Lou Zimmer; parents, Louis and Ida Zimmer; brothers, Lyle (Toady) and Amy Zimmer, Boyd (Tim) Zimmer. He is survived by his sons, Stephen B. Zimmer and his girlfriend Laila Florentiino, Toronto, Canada, Terry (Joy) Zimmer, Oneonta, NY; daughters, Donna M. Zimmer, Whitney Point, NY, Sheri Zimmer, Springfield, MA; precious grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Barrett, Karli, Paul and Rebecca Zimmer; brother, Allen (Virginia) Zimmer, Vestal, NY; sister-in-law, Judy Zimmer, Maine, NY. Pete was a retired heavy equipment operator and member of the Operating Engineers Local 410. Pete greatly enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially at chicken and biscuit dinners at the legion, and homemade chicken bbq's. Pete will be missed by his many friends at the "Topper", Maine American Legion, "Our Place" and most importantly Friends Diner, where dad would visit with Jim and Olga daily. A Funeral service for Pete will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with Reverend Susan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Maine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Pete's memory may be made to the Maine American Legion, 1390 NY Route 26, Maine, NY 13802.

I am so sorry to hear about Pete's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. I stopped by the house a few years ago and talked to Pete for a couple of hours remembering our past both our families had together. My best memory of my visit with him is that he offered me a canadian beer. Pete said "Its warm but it still goes down the same".

To Pete Zimmers Family: Even though we have not seen Pete in years as we lived in the south for a decade before returning, Pete is someone who once you met him, you would never forget him. Our last memory of Pete was with Millie at her Dad's on English Road in the early 1990's...good times! May your memories bring a smile to your face. You know that would be what he would want.

Donna, Steve, Terry & Sheri and families, please know how deeply saddened I am hearing of your loss. Pete was such a big part of our lives growing up, whether we wanted him there or not. Donna, we are so grateful that we had a chance to meet your dad when we bought his old car. We stood there for hours, just talking, like we knew each other for years. I am so sorry to here of Pete's passing. What a wonderful man. He will be in our hearts forever.

Pete and my Dad, Bob Rozelle, went back along way. I have great memories of listening to the stories at each others houses that were work and play related. They knew how to enjoy life. My condolences to the family over the loss of a good man.

To the Zimmer Family....growing up in Maine, you couldn't help but know Pete. He was very friendly and always had a joke or laugh to tell. I remember him visiting my Dad at the gas station and they would always "banter" back and forth. He will be missed by many. R.I.P. Pete
