Jesus took her by the hand and led her to the promised land…Geraldine Allyn Cressman, 86, of Temple Street, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at her home. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ralph; daughter, Janice Reed, Owego; sons, Gordon (Sherry) Cressman, Newark Valley, David Cressman, Owego, Craig (Ellen) Cressman, Newark Valley; grandchildren, Gordon Jr., Erin, Melissa (Jean) Cressman, Dale Short, Bryon Cressman, Samantha (Jason) Dye; Danielle Cressman, Aiden Cressman, Lane Reed, Brittany and Hannah. A great-granddaughter, Marah Dye; brothers, Eugene (Nora) Allyn, Okla., Hartley (Jean) Allyn, Apalachin, Dever Allyn, Waverly; sister, Laura Jean Strunk, Endicott; sister-in-law, Gladys Allyn, Warren Center, Pa. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Myrtle (Coffman) Allyn; sister, Phyllis Brennan; and brother, Henry Allyn. She was a graduate of Athens High School and graduated from Allentown Bible Institute. Geraldine was a member of the Owego First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, flowers, and was a great witness and follower of Christ. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her memory will live within our hearts forever.
Funeral services and celebration of Geraldine's life will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at 12 noon at the Owego First Church of the Nazarene, Route 17C Owego, with Pastor Dennis King, officiating. A period of visitation and sharing will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Lounsberry. Those who wish may kindly consider a memorial contribution to a charity of one's choice. "Geri" was my friend and next door neighbor in NV, NY. & I 'loved her' as a sister. She & I and our other neighbor, Helen, have some wonderful memories of our dear, loving friend. We were fortunate to have her in our lives.
The Lord works in mysterious ways, as I was able to see her in the hospital on Monday before she passed on. She looked so 'beautiful' & we talked about old times. She was prepared to meet the Lord & she knew where she was going.
May the Lord strengthen ALL the family through this sad time. The loss of one's Mom and Grandma, and sister is great...and she will be missed by all who really knew her. "See you on the other side, Geri"! My love to you forever....

It is a sad occasion, but we know that Grandma is in heaven with her brother, Hank and sister, Phyllis and her parents, and most importantly, her Savior. I do wish I could be home to share in the memory and celebration of her life. Although I cannot, I find peace in the memories I had with her most recently, in the hospital and the conversations we shared.
