Endicott - Gerry Blackwelder Kurkoski was released from her earthly struggles and entered into eternal life on March 26, 2021 after a short illness. She was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on January 20th, 1950. She was predeceased by her parents James and Katherine Blackwelder. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 51 years, Henry; sons Jeffery and wife Jenn of Vestal; Jonathan and wife Susan of Monroe, Connecticut; sisters Katie Wallet of King George, Virginia; Ethel Placy of Palm Bay, Florida; Jonnie Ebbert of Deltona, Florida and brother James Blackwelder of Fredericksburg Virginia and grandchildren Lydia, Bryce, Nathan and Greta. Gerry was a 15-year employee of Endwell Family Physicians. She was a very kind and gentle soul whose love and selflessness had a positive influence on the many lives she touched. Words cannot express how much she will be missed as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a friend. The family will receive friends at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc. 428 Main St., Johnson City from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. on Tuesday April 6th. The visitation will be followed by a mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott at noon. Internment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. Mrs. Kurkowski was a kind, loving neighbor to my brothers and I when we were young. In the winter, she spent hours making an “ice rink” in the front yard for Jeffrey & John.
I also loved seeing her at EFP in recent years. She was so genuine & selfless. I am so sorry for everyone’s loss.
