Hank Chambala Obituary
Johnson City: Hank F. Chambala, 87, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011, at Wilson Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Marie Chambala; his parents, John and Elizabeth Chambala; and his brothers, Louis and John. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Wyoma Chambala; his grandson, Bryan Chambala and his wife, Kelly; his granddaughter, Amanda Micholychak and her husband, Dan; two great-grandsons, Everett and Wesley Chambala; a great-granddaughter due this summer; and several nieces and nephews. He was a devoted member of St. Ann's Church, now the Church of the Holy Trinity, where he served wherever he was needed. Hank was a retired employee of General Electric Co. His love of his family, and his love of life and learning were the foundation of the family. The joy he brought to others, his sense of humor, and his wisdom will truly be missed. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, and at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St., Binghamton, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery with his beloved Annie. Family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Holy Trinity.

I am saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. I remember him well when we were boys and young men. For a time, a special time when we were young men, he was more of an Uncle than a friend's Dad.

I worked with Hank and all the rest of that crew in his office for many years at GE. They were a great bunch and your dad was at the top of the list. My thoughts are with you at this time.

His home was always a place I felt welcome. When I married he was the first person I told. His humor and insight was unparalled. Hank and Anne raised their Son and Grandchildren with love and caring. I will miss the opportunity I had talking to him at his house or on the phone after we moved away to Mississippi. Even though we were many miles apart I always felt a closeness with my Uncle Hank and Aunt Annie. I will miss you Uncle Hank.

Mike, Wyoma, and family:
Mom and I are very sorry to hear that Hank passed. I will always remember that great garden he had and his words of wisdom for growing the best tomatoes around! He was truly a wonderful man and neighbor - he will be missed. May you find peace in knowing he's with Ann in heaven.

I remember your dad from GE. The story goes that shortly after he retired a fellow retiree who was having a hard time getting into the retirement mode called him and asked how long it took him to get used to his retirement. His response was " somewhere between the back door of the plant and my car"
