Merrill Jr., John A.

John A. Merrill Jr. 53, of Binghamton, passed away surrounded by his family in his home after a long courageous battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his mother Betty Ann Merrill and his beloved dog Spencer. He is survived by his loving wife Amy-Lynn M. Merrill; daughters Sienna, and Sarah who he loved with all of his heart: father John Merrill Sr. (Sandy); sister Betty Jo VanMeerhaeghe (Phillip); mother and father in law Jim and Betty Ann Zimmer; brother in law Jeremy Zimmer (Karen); as well as several nieces and nephews. John graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He earned a bachelor degree and worked for UNISON in Norwich, NY. He loved his Jeep, watching paranormal shows and visiting Cape May, NJ. He repaired electronics and I Phones, so nobody would have to tell their parents they broke theirs. If anyone ever asked, can you fix this? He would reply, I worked on 18 million dollar airplanes, yes I can fix it. Visitation will be held on Monday at the THOMAS J. SHEA Funeral Home Inc. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904 from 4 until 6pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 6pm with Rev. David C. Seaver officiating. Memorial Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in John's Memory.

We were very sad to hear of John's passing yesterday. Although we were miles apart and never met, I knew John through work meetings and phone calls. He was a smart guy with a caring heart, who I know first hand, would reach out to others in their time of loss with kind words. Our thoughts and prayers are with his precious girls, loving wife Amy, and extended family. So very very sorry for your loss. May God comfort you, give you faith, hope and strength in this tough time. Isa. 40 : 29

Amy, Sienna and Sarah. Please accept our deepest condolences. Love leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal. May the many wonderful memories you hold dear in your hearts help comfort and sustain you during this sad and heartbreaking time.

I will miss John very much, he was a great guy, I loved working with him at Unison. He had a gentle soul and always a smile for anyone. John volunteered to be a part of my LOTO team. He was a dedicated guy, always willing to lend a hand. I will miss seeing him at the plant. RIP john, God speed buddy!
