of VestalJoseph Curatolo, 83, of Vestal, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2006. He was predeceased by one son, Thomas; and his parents, Pietro and Guiseppa Curatolo. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of fifty-six years, Cecilia; one daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Duncan McCormick, Tex.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Peter and Diana Curatolo, Homer, N.Y. and Paul Curatolo, Binghamton; one daughter-in-law, Linda Curatolo, Va.; three grandchildren, Johanna, Joshua and Travis; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Leona Andagan, Endicott, Sarah and Mel Griffith, Tenn. and Frances and William Cawley, Endicott; one brother, Frank Curatolo, Endwell. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who was always there for his family and friends. He graduated from U-E High School and Triple Cities College (Binghamton University) before going to work with GE as the Contract Negotiator until his retirement after over thirty-five years. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII until his discharge in 1946. He is an Elder at Northminster Presbyterian Church and has held positions at Good-Shepherd Fairview Home and Broome Developmental Center, and was a member of Binghamton University Founder's Club. Joe enjoyed golfing (especially finishing at the 19th hole), his annual fishing trip to Canada, painting, gardening, dancing and studying Karate. Hidy Ochai taught him many valuable lessons on his journey to achieving his Black Belt that Joe used during his final difficult journey. He will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends and be remembered as the person to turn to for help.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Northminster Presbyterian Church with Rev's. Gilbert McKenzie and Barry Downing officiating. The family will welcome friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Savage-DeMarco Funeral Home, 1605-1609 Witherill St., Endicott, N.Y. 13760 at the corner of McKinley and Witherill. Burial will be in the family plot at Riverhurst Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to Northminster Presbyterian Church, Broome Developmental Center, or to the charity of your choice.
