MARION STEVENS GEARREALD
of Norfolk, Va.Marion Stevens Gearreald died peacefully at home in Norfolk, Va. on June 3, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Gearreald was a native of Binghamton, and a graduate of Cornell University. At Cornell, she met her husband, Tull Neal Gearreald. They were married in 1937 and have resided in Norfolk since 1955. Mrs. Gearreald was a long-time member of Larchmont Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities. She also participated extensively in civic activities, notably as a member of the Garden Club of Norfolk, the Norfolk Botanical Garden, and the Royster Circle of the King's Daughters. Her numerous interests included gardening, flower arranging, and public speaking. In 1970 the American Mothers Committee selected her as Mother of the Year for the state of Virginia. Mrs. Gearreald is survived by her husband and their four children, Linda Page, Carmel Valley, Calif., Karen Gearreald, Norfolk, Tull Neal Gearreald, Jr., Montgomery, Ala., and Mark Stevens Gearreald, Dover, N.H. Other survivors include three grandchildren and two sisters, Barbara Knesel, Deltona, Fla. and Bernice Nickerson, Binghamton. A memorial service was held on June 6, in Norfolk, Va.
