Matthew Rech Obituary
Matthew Rech, 76, born in Ernsthausen, Austria went to be with the Lord May 23, 2014 after brief but brave struggle with cancer; his family was by his side for his passing and thanks the kind staff of Lourdes Hospice. He was predeceased by his parents as a child; sisters Angela Salvinski and Katarina Rech. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Lillian; children Susan and Jim Lozier, Sherry and Scott Yokim, Stephen and Mary Rech; grandchildren Pamella (Lozier) and Chris Caputo, Brad Lozier, Lydia, Hannah, Bethany, and Matthew Rech; and his first great grandchild Caputo due in September; sisters Leni (Rech) and Dick Barry, Catherine and Bob Sweet, Antoinette McMahon; sister-in-law Sue Pasquale; as well as several special nieces and nephews. Retired after 42 years as a book binder for Vail-Ballou Press, he enjoyed bowling and throwing horse shoes. Matt's passing leaves a hole in our lives like a piece missing from one of his favorite jigsaw puzzles. "Grandpa didn't say much but was a really important part of the family" (Granddaughter Hannah). He was patient, loving and caring in his own quiet way. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6 until 8pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Tuesday at the funeral home, Pastor Maxson and Pastor Mattox will officiate the service. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lourdes Hospice 4102 Old Vestal Rd, Vestal, NY 13850 or Central Baptist Church 1606 State Route 12, Binghamton, NY 13901 in Matthew's memory.

Dear Lillian and family,
Fred and I send you kind thoughts with the passing of Matt. Remembering your children when they were in grade school, also when you both came to our store in Damascus. Matt and Fred had some good visits. Our Lord has blessed you with a wonderful family.
