Michael Alunni Obituary
Endicott: Michael Patrick Alunni, 74, of Endicott, NY, formerly of Jessup, PA, died peacefully surrounded by his family on January 31st. Mike was born in Jessup, PA on St. Patrick's Day 1939. He was the son of the late Amerigo and Mary Alunni. A graduate of Scranton Prep, The University of Scranton, where he was a standout baseball player and Syracuse University. An Army Veteran, First Lieutenant, having served at Army Chemical Core in Edgewood, MD. He was a retired engineer at I.B.M. and an adjunct Professor of Math/Computer Science for 16 years at Broome Community College. Mike loved baseball. His summers were spent coaching Endicott Little League, Teener League, Mahar, Post 82 and Broome. He was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, specifically the EAGLES, having been a Season Ticket Holder since 1974. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, an Usher, a member of the Holy Name Society, Sons of Italy Lodge 443 Endicott and Jessup Carbino Club. Mike is survived by his wife of 48 years, Corinne (Maiolatesi); daughter, Beth Ann and husband Gary Ede; son, Christopher and wife Karen; sister-in-law, Patricia Alunni; brothers-in-law, Salvatore (Virginia) Maiolatesi, Roland (Cynthia) Maiolatesi; special nieces, nephews and cousins! He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald. He loved his grand pups, Mickey, Allie and Philly. Special thanks to Fr. Clarence, Fr. Jim, Sr. Anisa, who brought him much comfort, Dr. Yalamanchili & staff at Broome Oncology, Dr. Pallapothu, Dr. Sethi, Lourdes Hospice, Home Health Care, and to all the family and friends who were there for him. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Ave., Endicott. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Jessup, PA, at a later date. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc., 1905 Watson Blvd., Endicott on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to St. Anthony's Food Pantry, 906 Jenkins St., Endicott, NY 13760.

Our deepest sympathies to the Alunni Family. As I coach my daughters softball team and work with my son I am often reminded of all the people who helped and supported me as a kid and young adult. Mike was a true baseball man and his love for the game was inspiring and respected by all. I always looked forward to the challenge of competing against his teams but grateful to have played for him in All-Stars and Post 82 Mahar. Baseball has lost a great ambassador and he will be missed by the many men he has impacted.

We were so saddened by Michael's passing. While our family is full of wonderful characters, Michael was defintely one of the best to be around!! Dear Mrs. Aluni, Chris, Beth and family,
I am very sorry for your loss. Many years have passed since I have seen or spoken to Mr. Aluni, but I can still hear his voice bellowing across the infield at Sertoma Park. Be assured that lessons and values he taught me on the ballfield many years ago are being passed on to others today. Though I am saddened by the news, I am smiling and laughing thinking of summers spent playing for and learning from "BG". Our prayers go out to you and your family.

Michael: Your passing was a big shock to me. I know it will take time to go through it but with God's help I will. Now that you are with Jesus, can you ask him to heal our ailing bodies and souls. Mike was my manager in Test Engineering at IBM. He brightened every day I worked for him. He developed the careers of many who worked for him. May God comfort all his loved ones through the multitude of friends he left behind.
