Michael was an old and dear friend of mine from the 80s when we both worked for the Broome County Manpower program. I have been thinking of him alot lately and now I guess I know why. We slowly lost touch after I moved to California, but our friendship never lost it's importance in my life. I've missed being in his presence. My heart goes out to those whose lives he touched and who are missing him too.

I'll always remember Michael as my greatest teacher, and as one of my dearest friends. He had the biggest heart, the warmest smile, and was so proud of his family and friends, we couldn't help but be better people for knowing him. Matt and I will both miss him, and are thinking of you, Laurie and Barb, and your families. <3

A 41 year friendship began when I met Mike in college. What a remarkable man!
He spent 57 years in a wheelchair... since he was 12 years old when he fell out of a tree and severed his spinal chord. I never heard Mike complain. He had a wonderful smile and amazing whit. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. He was an inspiration to everyone he met. He loved nature and often drove his van sight seeing. Bird watching, collecting mushrooms, observing wildlife or just sitting outdoors in the sun were some of his passions. He was a big fan of boxing, hockey, baseball, football and basketball. He was a huge music fan and attended both sporting and music events. Mike traveled and did more than most people. He was amazing!
Love You Mike and I hope you are once again able to walk, run and even fly.

So sorry to hear that Mike has passed and my deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones. I knew Mike for some 35 years although most of our time together was back in the day as they say. My best memory is during the Pocono Festival II in 1970 I believe which was often called the 2nd Woodstock! Attending such a event with a friend in a wheel chair turned out to be both difficult and a benefit to moving through a sea of people. We went with about a dozen friends from the south side and enjoyed the show for some 2-3 days!
I can still see your smile you had for much of that long week-end and for now that is what I will have to carry till we meet again. Rest in peace brother!

Lot's of good memories when Mike would come to FLA for his winter visits at Matt's place. It was my good fortune to be living there at the time.
