Michael Turkovic Obituary
Binghamton - After a full life, Michael James Turkovic passed away peacefully on February 22, 2021. Mike was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Birch Turkovic. Mike leaves behind his loving devout partner of 7 years Sandra Kaminsky. He is survived by his daughters: Deborah Dohnalek, Beth Matheson and Kathryn Henneman and son-in-law Russell Henneman. He is also survived by his grandchildren and their spouses Cassidy and Fred Prentice, Jack and Lynn Dohnalek, Joshua and Nikki Henneman, Rachel and Shane Farrell, Alex Matheson, Taylor Matheson. In addition he leaves behind his extended family Brad and Leigh Kaminsky, Jay and Karrie Kaminsky, Aaron and Fran Kaminsky as well as Sandy's grandchildren Josie, Nick, Jimmy, Alex, Aidan, Lauren, and Macey.
Michael came from immigrant parents, Elizabeth Kabat and Michael Turkovic, who worked hard at Endicott Johnson Shoes so they could send their only son to college. Michael was an RPI graduate with a degree in Electrical Engineering and two Masters Degree - one from Syracuse University and one from Michigan State. Michael had a long successful 35 year career at NYSEG retiring as the VP of Purchasing and Administration. Michael enjoyed his retirement pursuing a lifelong passion for golf, travelling to Hilton Head yearly, participating in the Genegantslet golf league and golfing well into his 80s. In addition, Michael had a lot of other hobbies including fly fishing, tying his own flies, building his own canoe, hunting and being a member of the NRA and Trout Unlimited. Michael was also an accomplished artist - painting multiple watercolor paintings and carving and painting duck decoys. Michael was deeply loved and will be missed by his family. Rest in peace "you old bandit". We Love you
A private burial will be held at Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
