Michele Lankford Obituary
Susquehanna, PA: Michele "Mike" (Welch) Lankford went home to the Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in Wilson Hospital after suffering from complications due to a stroke. Michele was 57 years old. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Bayless Welch; mother-in-law Lois Potter Lankford; and sister Sheila Welch Hamby. Michele was born, January 27, 1954 in Susquehanna, PA to Robert and Mary Bayless Welch. Youngest of 9 children; she is survived and loved by her remaining brothers and sisters and their spouses and several nieces and nephews. Loving and devoted wife Michele married her high school sweetheart Gary Lankford and is the mother of 4; Derek Lankford, Aaron Lankford, Chadd Lankford, and Melissa Lankford; Mother-in-law of 3; Angela Carr Lankford, Wendy Bell Lankford, and Leslie Klimek Lankford; and grandmother of 6; Paige Lankford, Jenna Lankford, Corbin Lankford, McKenna Lankford, Kelbeigh Lankford, and Irelyn Lankford. Michele was known throughout the community for her involvement with the United Methodist Church in Susquehanna, various activities she followed while her children were in school, and her work with the Susquehanna Fire Department Auxiliary. Michele was loved by many and always will be remembered for her personality, humor, and love. She was always willing to help anyone in any way that she could. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 11am, at the Hennessey's Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, with Rev. James Rouse officiating. Burial will be held in the Uniondale Cemetery, Uniondale, PA. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, July 29, 2011, from 5 to 8pm. Also, a dinner will be held following the funeral services on Saturday, at the United Methodist Church, on Main Street, in Susquehanna, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund that has been set up at People's Neighborhood Bank in Susquehanna, PA, in Michele Lankford's name.

Dear Gary and family-
I was so sorry to read of Michele's passing and have so many memories of her over the years, as we were in school together from first grade through twelfth. We didn't see each other often anymore, even in our small town, but she was one of those people who will always be part of Susquehanna to me. I know she enjoyed her children and grandchildren and that they have many fond memories of her that I hope will help them through this time and be part of their lives forever. I hope you will all find comfort in knowing that she is in a place of unending joy with God and loved ones, and that He will bring peace to you all in these difficult days.

To Michele's family, I am so sorry to read of Michele's passing. I always enjoyed our brief visits at the veggie stand....always a smile and a pleasant exchange about her beautiful little granddaughters. Rest in peace Michele.

To the Lankford Family: My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I didn't know Michele personally, but I do know she was a wonderful person and she has a tremendous family! I know how hard it is to say goodbye to someone you love so much. I'm so glad to know that she is having a wonderful reunion up in heaven with her Lord and family and friends. May the Lord help each of you through your grieving at this difficult time. Sorry that I'm not able to make it to the viewing. Sending hugs to Melissa.

Dear Gary and Family;I was so saddened to hear of Michele's passing. But along with the sadness came a comfort, with the thought of what a wonderful homecoming has taken place..not only with our Lord but with her Parents and Sister, Lois, Lem and Belle, Grandpa and Grandma Bayless,Carolyn Cleveland,Vonnie Cowperthwait and so many others who loved her and who she dearly loved. Michele has left a legacy of kindness,caring and of course humor..she will be sorely missed by us all.
