Mildred Ogden Obituary

Mildred L. Ogden (Millie)
of Johnson City
formerly of Endicott
Today, September 24, 2008, Mildred L. Ogden (Millie), 88, went to be with her heavenly father. She was born April 14, 1920 in Everett, Massachusetts. Millie was greeted by her savior, Jesus Christ; parents, Clara and E.J. Reeves; husband, Bob Ogden; grandson, David Lucy; first husband, Glenn Johnson; and her dear friends, Dora and Betty. Millie, Dora, Betty and Gladys affectionately called themselves "The Broad Squad." Millie leaves behind her daughter, Betty Lucy (Howard); son, Bob Johnson (Darlene); seven grandchildren, Dianne Hoskins (Rusty), Beth Speidel (Mark), BJ Johnson (Mary Jane), Kenney Johnson (Kristin), Alicia Johnson, Buddy Johnson, and Christa Johnson; also Millie had ten great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Lucy, Morgan, Tristan, Mason and Sawyer Speidel, also Brayden, Blake, Devon, Harleigh and Hunter Johnson. Millie was a resident of the Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for 7 1/2 years. During that time she made many friends and touched the lives of staff and visitors. She had dementia and her wild stories brought humor into the lives of many people. All who knew Millie there knew of her love for Jesus Christ. She would often sing hymns and be praying. Even with her dementia her faith showed through brightly. We, Millie's family, want to give a huge thank you to ALL the staff on the second floor of Susquehanna Nursing Center. We thank them for the loving care they gave Mom. As we sat by her bedside, staff from all shifts would stop in to tell her they loved her and to share a story about her. We give each and every one of them a heartfelt thank you. Who knew that even when a person had dementia they could touch so many lives?
Millie's family requests no flowers, but because of her love for animals maybe a donation to SPEAK Animal Hospital, 351 Flint Rd., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905. Thank you. A graveside service for Millie will be held on Wednesday, October 1st, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Nanticoke Valley Cemetery, Rte. 26, Union Center (Endicott), next to the old Union Center Christian Church. Millie's son-in-law, Pastor Howard W. Lucy, will officiate. Funeral arrangements are by the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 East Main St., Endicott.
