Nora Longley Obituary

Longley, Nora (Eleanor) Age 27. Our loved and loving Nora left us on the evening of May 9, 2009, joining her dear grandparents Harold, Joey, and Dot, uncles Jim and Al, godmother Kimmer, and childhood friend Kyle, in a place beyond this life. Nora lived vigorously with adrenocortical cancer for over three and a half years, providing inspiration and strength to the many, many people who knew and loved her. Her wacky sense of humor, innate sense of beauty, and exuberance for life and the people who made it worth living will be her legacy. She taught us all "how beautiful could a being be." Nora leaves behind her parents Brian and Nance, sisters Caitlin and Hannah, grandpa Bill Longley, a huge extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and devoted animal friends, Auggie, Emma, and Moe. A service to celebrate all things Nora will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Weyerhaeuser Memorial Chapel on the campus of Macalester College, 1600 Grand Avenue, St. Paul. Directions at www.macalester.edu/ about/directions.html. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials that fund research to defeat this very rare cancer. Contributions can be sent to the ATAC Research Fund, www.adrenalcancer.org /Contributions.html, Nora Longley Memorial, or to U of Michigan Adrenal Cancer Research Fund, www.cancer.med. umich.edu/cancertreat/endocrine/ adrenal_ cancer_donations.shtml.

My heart is heavy-
I attended high school with Nora and we had a class or 2 together. Although we did not keep in touch after graduating, I will always remember her Audrey Hepburn elegance.

May she rest in peace.

My warmest thoughts and sincere condolences go out to all of Nora's loved ones- family, relatives and friends.

I was so lucky to work with Nora at The Biblelot. We had so many gigglefests! She was like a toddler, always excited & happy to see you. A great smile that lit up a room! I will always remember her great generous spirit.

Brian: I didn't meet Nora but I know from conversations how much your children are a part of your life. When I have difficult days, I remember the St. Patrick's Day that one of the girls made you green spaghetti. I don't think it was spinach noodles. It may even have been for breakfast. Cherish the memories and know that you and she have touched many lives. Peace, Cyndy Krey (St. Kate's IT Dept)

To the Longley family, remembering Nora and her great strength and determination in life, she was a beautiful girl, inside and out. I remember moving some of Ingrid's stuff from the apartment she shared with Nora and how funny Nora was. Sending you love and comfort during this difficult time. She has made a remarkable impact on the world!
