Peter Nickels Obituary
Owego - Peter J. Nickels, Jr., 57, of Owego, NY passed away peacefully at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA after a brief battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter J. Sr. and Wilma A. (Shrauger) Nickels; his aunt, Pearl (Shrauger Rosenberger) Stables; his uncle, Harold Shrauger; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and other family and friends that have gone on before him. Peter is survived by his daughter, Shelbilyn Nickels and her fiancée, Anthony Schaffer; his sons, Jason (Lisa) Merrill, Joseph (Tonya) Merrill, Justin Merrill; his sisters, Bonnie (Tom) Thomas, Barbara (Bud) Dornblaser, Betty (David) Chilson, Traci (Tony) Cameron, his 9 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; the mother of his daughter, Tammy Nickels; and his work family at E.E. Root. Peter was a member of the Owego Moose Lodge 1595. He was an avid outdoorsman, and a kind and gentle father, brother, uncle and friend. A Country Boy Can Survive; Turn the Page.

Pete, I can remember when ever Bill and I would visit you would give me one of your favorite bottles of ice tea. You would do anything for Bill and I without even having to ask because you were that kind of guy. We will miss that sweet smile and tender heart of yours. A true Southside Man.
