Spatola, Prospero (Spitts), Jr.

Mr. Prospero Spatola Jr. a long time Batavia resident until moving to Newark Valley, NY, in 2007, died August 24, 2013, at Robert Packer hospital in Sayre, PA. Mr. Spatola was born April 20, 1931 at 20 Wood Street, Batavia, New York, a son of the late Prospero and Mary Cuozzo Spatola Sr. A graduate of Batavia High School class of 1949, and Morrisville College class of 1951, Mr. Spatola was also a Korean War Veteran, serving 18 months in Germany. He was employed by OATKA Milk Products for 45 years, at various positions the last being as Canned Food Superintendent and upon retirement as a consultant. He was a former member of the Board of Education at Alexander Central School and a past member of the American Legion Owego, NY Post. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Dorothy Post Spatola; a son, Gregory (Colleen) Spatola of Newark Valley, NY; daughter Loriann (Jeffery) Davis of Binghamton, NY; granddaughters, Amber (Shanon) Newcomb, and their daughters Emma and Mckenna of Medina, OH; and Aubree Spatola (fiancé James Lapp) of Newark Valley, NY; grandsons, Ryan (Lindsay) Spatola and their son Baylor of Kentucky; Nicholas(Katherine) Spatola of Newark Valley, NY; Jeremy (Erica) Spatola of Binghamton NY; Christopher Chatt of Binghamton, NY, and nieces and nephews. He is the brother of the late Vincent and Michael Spatola, Delores Spatola Bacon, Francis Spatola VanSavage and Dorothy Spatola Maslanka. There will no calling hours; a Mass of Christian burial will be said at Saint Patrick's Church Owego, NY, on Tuesday August 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a memorial Mass at Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph) at a time to be announced. Burial will be at the family's convenience.
